What we supply
Vannamei post-larvae at two stages. The number is the days since the larva became a post-larva, and it decides which farms the seed suits.

Spawning
Eggs hatch into nauplii within about a day of spawning. Each spawn is logged against the broodstock it came from.

Larval rearing
Nauplius, zoea and mysis stages in controlled tanks, with daily microscope checks on health, feeding and development.

PCR testing
Before dispatch every batch is tested for WSSV, EHP, IHHNV and AHPND, and checked for size uniformity and activity.

Our founder
Mr J Arokiasamy founded Raj Hatcheries in 1994 and still leads it. Over three decades of Indian aquaculture he has seen the species change, the diseases change and farming practice change with them, and through all of it farmers have come back to Raj for seed they can rely on, cycle after cycle.
The protocols on this site were built up across those cycles, not adopted wholesale. That is the difference between a procedure on paper and one a team follows every day.

Which PL stages do you supply?
We publish specifications for PL8 and PL10. PL8 suits farms with a nursery; PL10 suits nurseries and well-prepared grow-out ponds. The zone team will advise on the stage for your pond.
What is the seed tested for?
Every batch is PCR tested before dispatch for white spot syndrome virus (WSSV), Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP), IHHNV and AHPND. The PCR report goes with the seed, under the batch reference.
Is your broodstock SPF?
Yes. Our broodstock is Specific Pathogen Free and comes from a CAA-approved supplier. It is screened by PCR and quarantined before it enters production.
Can I get seed outside the main season?
Yes. We produce seed through the year. Availability for a given date still changes day to day, so call the zone team with your stocking date.
How do I book seed?
